‘Dhoti-Uparane’ dress-code for priests and ‘sevekari’ of Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir

Belated action by Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir! It is, however, shameful that such things are required to be forced to do!

Pandharpur : Priests performing daily rituals and ‘sevekari’ of Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir have been assigned ‘Dhoti-uparane’ as dress-code. The Mandir –committee will give 2 pairs of ‘Dhoti- uparane’ to them for free. This rule will be implemented with effect from ‘Gudhi-Padva’ in the month of ‘Chaitra’. The Executive Officer of Temple and Dy. Collector Sachin Dhole made announcement to this effect. (For getting benefit of the divine energy generated in temple while performing ‘puja’, it is necessary to wear ‘Dhoti’ but paid priests and ‘sevekari’ wouldn’t know this science. It is therefore, necessary to hand over temples’ management to devotees ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

There are 270 employees with Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir Samiti; out of them, 48 are paid priests and ‘sevekari’ engaged for performing daily rituals. There are 28 families from this city who are engaged in temples of different Deities as 11 priests and 35 ‘sevekari’ and dress-code of ‘Dhoti-uparane’ has been enforced on them.

High alert warning issued in temple area!

Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir is a target of terrorists and Home Ministry has issued high alert notice in temple area. Police Inspector, Vishwas Salokhe of temple committee has been taking action for maintaining security, against encroachment by traders in temple area, road-side vendors and hawkers.
