Enraged pro-Hindu activists demand action against even unauthorized mosques and churches

Mumbai: A notice has been issued by MMC to 9 temples including Hanuman Temple in Santacruz area for the reason that the temples were unauthorized and created obstacles in traffic and about action to be taken within 48 hours. It may be mentioned here that along with 9 temples, only one church has been issued such notice. The local activists of VHP and Bajarang Dal have been enraged when they learnt about the notice. They got together and took the officer in the concerned department to task. The pro-Hindu activists have taken a stand that no action should be taken against temples till it is decided to take action even against the unauthorized mosques and churches. The above information was given by Mr. Anil Divate, the District ‘Gouraksha-chief’ of VHP to the representative of Dainik Sanatan Prabhat. (Congratulations to Mr. Divate for raising voice against one-sided action of MMC ! – Editor SP)

Mr. Divate said, “On reading the notice issued by the MMC, SMSes have been sent to local Deputy Police Commissioner Satyanarayan Chaudhary, Assistant Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Naik taking objection to the notice and demanding similar action against mosques and churches. Noori Mosque in Shastrinagar is unauthorized. If action is going to be taken against temples, action has to be taken even against this mosque. A meeting was called at 1.00 p.m. in the department’s office for discussions in which the pro-Hindu activists confirmed their stand. Mr. Venkatji, Mr. Sudhir Ovhal, Mr. Anil Divate of VHP, Mr. Anil Upadhye of BJP, Mrs. Sadhana Dal and Mr. Parashuram Jadhav of Shiv Sena were some of the pro-Hindu activists who attended the meeting. Mr. Sudhir Naik, the Assistant Municipal Commissioner said that the temples were on the Government’s land and therefore, action is bebing taken as per the rules. Additional Police Commissioner Pardeshi said that a representation should be given along with a copy of the notice received by the temples and the demands of pro-Hindu activists. A meeting will be held with trustees of Noori mosque and pro-Hindu activists in two days after which necessary action will be taken.

Mr. Divate also told that MMC had taken action against 10-15 unauthorised churches in the area; but they were re-constructed and no notice has been issued to them. Decision with such double standards should not be taken; else VHP will undertake agitation.
