Denigration of ‘Vande Mataram’ by The Times Of India: protest by patriotic citizen

Denigration of Vande Mataram by Times of India

On the front page of daily The Times Of India dated October 12, 2006 it was given as ‘One-Day Mataram’ Pg 25-28. This means that read one-day cricket news from Page 25-28. This is severe denigration of India’s National Mahamantra Vande Mataram.

One patriotic citizen Shri. Vikas Thorat protested against this denigration by sending protest letter to the editor of Times. The protest letter by Shri. Thorat is given below.

Kind Attn: Editor

Dear Sir,

This is with reference to your Sport page regarding Champions Trophy

As I am a fan of cricket I love and enjoy it always. But it is hearting when headline is close relation with ‘VANDE MATARAM’ – Mother, I bow to thee!

Vande Mataram’ is well known as the National Song of our country. In this song, the two words ‘Vande Mataram’ have achieved major importance. These are the only words that many freedom fighters remembered while being sentenced to rigorous punishments in Court or being hanged to death.

But it should not be case for cricket. This is hurting feeling of Indians. Hence we hereby request you stop pasting such pictures. Your early reply regarding action taken will be highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Vikas
