HJS warns PMC not to use ammonium carbonate for Ganesh idols’ immersion

Agitations will be staged if nasty decision of using ammonium carbonate for immersion of Shri Ganesh idols is not cancelled ! – Warning to PMC by HJS

Demand to give funds to be used for purchase of ammonium carbonate to sculptors making idols of clay !

Pune : Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had taken a decision to use ammonium carbonate for dissolving Shri Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) in water but such anti-Dharma decision didn’t work. Even then, PMC administration has decided to purchase 100 tons of ammonium carbonate this year too. Last year, most of the idols didn’t dissolve and it took several days for some idols to dissolve. Many people got rash on skin due to use of ammonium carbonate and plants watered with such water also died. Despite all such adverse effects, PMC is firm on its decision in the name of prevention of water pollution. Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, Maharashtra State Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has, however, given a warning through a press release of staging agitations if such decision was not withdrawn by PMC.

It has been stated in the press release that

1. PMC has no right to waste millions of rupees collected from Pune residents by way of taxes, in this manner; therefore, such decision should be withdrawn by PMC. If PMC truly wants to prevent water pollution, instead of spending money in buying ammonium carbonate, the funds should be given to sculptors making idols with clay.

2. It will help devotees to get Sri Ganesh idols that are ‘eco-friendly’ and made as per ‘Dharma-shastra’. Hindus will be able to abide by Dharma and the wrong propaganda made by PMC about immersion of idols causing water pollution, will also be corrected.

3. If PMC is really so worried about water pollution, why is it conveniently overlooking pollution caused on all 365 days in a year by releasing 168 billion litres sewage water, chemical effluents released by factories without any processing; builders throwing all unwanted material so also many such things thrown in river water, though it causes more than 99% pollution of the river water. Is it progressiveness of PMC or rationalism ?

4. Hindu Dharma-shastra says that Shri Ganesh idol worshipped for ten days by devotees is immersed in flowing water, it spreads the Ganesh-Principle to far off places purifying atmosphere; but the then anti-Hindu Congress rulers used to create obstacles in Hindus’ religious matters; taking anti-Hindu Dharma decisions. It is however, unfortunate that despite pro-Hindu BJP party having power in PMC, similar anti-Dharma decisions are taken even now.
