Margao: Resolution passed to establish Goa Mandir Mahasangh to Save temples

Margao (Goa): A resolution to establish Goa Temple Union (Goa Mandir Mahasangh)  for the protection of the temples in Goa, was passed unanimously in the Hindu Unity Meet organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) at Veershaiv Lingayat Math, here yesterday. In the context of the Goa government’s plot to demolish temples and small shrines declaring them unauthorized, the HJS had organised this meet in order to protect the religious places/structures. Mr. Ramesh Shinde, spokesperson of HJS of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat region was the main dignitary on the occasion.

At the beginning of the meet Mr. Ramesh Shinde gave information citing examples giving the proof about the various attacks on Hindu Dharma. Hindus’ faith and their Dharma are being destroyed by way of demolishing the Deities’ idols, committing thefts in the temples and destroying the temples declaring them as unauthorised. This is absolutely wrong. As a fact if any house is given on rent to anybody for more than 11 months, it becomes his own lawfully. Then why is this law not applicable in cases of the religious structures which are there for number of years? How can the existing government declare ancient religious structures in existence before their tenure as unauthorised? 

All the trustees of various temples in Maharashtra are on the way to establish a Maharashtra Temple Union (Maharastra Mandir Mahasangh). It is the need of the hour that in Goa too this kind of ‘Mahasangh’ is established. If this kind of ‘Mahasangh’ is established in Goa then HJS is ready to offer all the necessary assistance for its establishment. Thereafter the above resolution was passed unanimously by all shouting slogan of ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Trustees of various temples from Canacona, Ponda, Margao of the south Goa District were present for the meet.
