A Christian held for making bomb threat call to Guruvayur temple

Thrissur : A person was arrested for making a bomb threat call to the famed Sreekrishna temple at Guruvayur on Saturday.

The arrested has been identified as Joseph, a native of Thottappadi near Aluva. Joseph landed in police net following a probe by a team headed by ACP P.A. Sivadas.

He called the temple office around 8.15 am and said that his group will blow up the temple with the help of a woman suicide bomber in a manner similar to the Rajiv Gandhi assassination. Temple manager T.V. Krishnadas who answered the call immediately alerted the police.

Following which, the officers conducted searches at the temple. Measures were taken to ensure that the believers at the shrine are not affected due to this.

The police had traced the call to a SIM taken in the name of an Alappuzha native. Though the person was taken into custody, he said he had not been using the SIM.

Earlier also the temple had received bomb threats. The last such message was received in July 2015. However, it was found to be fake.
