A protest meet was held to condemn the denigration in novel ‘Draupadi’ written by the Dr.Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad at Field Marshal Cariappa Circle, Kushalnagar, Mercara District.

Addressing the protesters Mr. Suresh Herur, Spokesperson of HJS Hassan, said that Dr.Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad in his novel ‘Draupadi’ has not only showed Sati Draupadi, Pandavas and Lord Sree Krushna in poor light but even introduced illicit amorous relationship between Draupadi and Sree Krushna which has hurt the feelings of billions of Hindus worldwide. It is unfortunate that the Central Sahitya Academy, a body funded by the Central Govt. has given an award to such a novel, he added.

Mr. Herur demanded that the book should be immediately banned and Cental Sahitya Academy  should take back the award given. This has to be done immediately as the book may be translated into other languages because it has got the Academy award. The writer should be punished as per law for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus. He also questioned as to whether the author would dare to write similar novels on any of the respected characters from the holy texts of Muslims or Christians?

Mr. B.P. Krishnamurthy, Coordinator, HJS, Kushalnagar mentioned as to how there is a systematic trend to insult Hindu Religious leaders and Saints. Starting with H.H. Kanchi Acharya followed by attempts to tarnish the name of H.H Ramdev Baba and later H.H. Pejawar Shri in last couple of years. Since there is no unity in the Hindus, the anti Hindu forces have got the courage to be more aggressive which was evident in the recent events like the Asaram Bapu Ashram being vandalized by Gujarat Police, the Goa Government’s demand to ban Sanatan Sanstha and filing a Chapter case against its founder H.H. Dr. Athavale for disturbing social peace – when the reality was that H.H. Dr. Athavale is ill and has not moved from the Ashram since last 2 and half years. The recent case where some people got caught by the Karnataka Police while trying  to attempt to tarnish the image of H.H Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji through video mixing etc. shows clearly as to how the present high technology is being used to frame Saints and Hindu leaders, he mentioned.
