Representations demanding a ban on the sale of crackers, with pictures of Deities and the great National Leaders, submitted by HJS at various places

Mumbai: There are pictures of Hindu Deities like Sree Lakshmi, Sree Krushna, Sree Vishnu etc. and so also of leaders like Netaji Subhashchandra Bose on crackers lit on different occasions. When such crackers are burst, the pictures on them get torn to shreds and are scattered everywhere. These pieces are trampled upon by people walking on the roads. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has therefore, started a drive even this year, along with like minded organizations, to stop the production and sale of such crackers. During the first stage of this drive, representations have been submitted to the Government officials.

In a representation submitted by HJS, it has been stated, “It is observed that crackers with the names of Deities like ‘Lakshmi Bar’, ‘Krushna Bar’, ‘Vishnu Bar’ etc. are kept for sale in many shops. Such crackers cause denigration of the Deities and National leaders resulting in hurting religious and national sentiments of thousands of Hindus and Indian citizens.

Representations submitted to Dy. District Collector, Mumbai and Pant Nagar Police Station

Mr. Anil Sawant, the resident Dy. District Collector and additional Magistrate of Mumbai city was given this representation today in the presence of Mr. Paras Rajput of Bajarang Dal, Mr. Vasant Pawar, a devout Hindu and members of HJS viz. Uday Dhuri, Milind Poshe, Amit Datekar, Mrs. Suhasini Parab, Mrs. Sadhana Nanavare and Miss Anjali Karande. Similar representations were also submitted at Pantnagar Police Station, Ghatkopar (E) to the senior Police Inspector Mr. Suryavanshi when Mr. Ravi Parkar, the local branch-chief of Shiv Sena, Mr. Ashok Vendkar, special executive officer, Mr. Dnyandev Soot, the Editor of weekly periodical ‘Nirbhid’ and members of HJS viz. Satish Sonar, Dinesh Warang along with few Shiv Sainiks were present.

HJS fighting for 6 years; Govt. is, however, indifferent

HJS has been fighting for the past 6 years to prevent the denigration of Deities and National leaders in a lawful manner but barring a few places, the sale of such crackers still goes on despite lodging complaints with the police or submitting representations to them and the Government or Administration all over the State. (The anti-Hindu Congress Govt. pays no heed to the lawful agitations of Hindus but is prompt in fulfilling demands made by non-Hindus. When are the Hindus going to create such pressure groups ? – Editor SP)
