Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh): On 25th May, a ‘Gou-shala’ (Cow-shed) was demolished at Vishhakhapattanam; therefore, the Andhra Pradesh ‘Gou-shala’ Foundation held one-day hunger strike at Bhagyanagar in its protest. Other organizations like ‘Peela Ramkrushna Memorial Jeeva Raksha Sangham’, Sriram Yuva Sena, Rashtriya Ahimsa Morcha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) supported the hunger strike. Mr. Chetan Janardana of HJS joined the agitation.

Vishakhapattanam Municipal Corporation demolished a ‘Gou-shala’ (Cow-shed), without giving any notice, managed by Sree Charan Dharmadas Trust since 1993. As a result, 60 cows looked after in this ‘Gou-shala’ (Cow-shed) came on the roads. One cow and a calf died due to hunger as no fodder was provided to them. The Foundation has, therefore, held protests against this incident by observing fast for a day and made demands like the ‘demolished ‘Gou-shala’ (Cow-shed) should be re-constructed at the same place, the concerned municipal officers should be punished under section 429 of Indian Penal Code and under Police Act, 1960. It has been stated in the circular published by the Foundation that extensive agitation will be held in case the Government did not concede to the demands.
