Mockery of Hindu deities at youth festival

Kolhapur: Every year, Shivaji University organizes competition of short plays at district and central levels in the Youth Festival. Mostly the short plays are based on the topics that make mockery of Hindu deities. A representation was given to Shri. Shirke, the Secretary, in charge, of Shivaji University for prevention of denigration of Hindu deities. Taking cognizance of this representation, a circular was issued by the university that the points allotted to the short plays would be reduced if such plays involve desecration of deities. But the colleges participating in the competition did not pay heed to the circular and presented short plays based on mockery of Hindu deities.

In the short plays enacted by colleges at district level in Shahu College at Rukadi, there was desecration of Hindu deities (of very inferior nature) and the audience also enjoyed the same. Many colleges presented short plays on the topic involving ridicule of deities. Such denigration of deities was done in the presence of professors, in-Charges of the respective departments of the colleges.

(Congratulations to Shivaji University for issue of such circular and protect feelings of Hindus.

This indicates that colleges are not only indifferent to the circular issued by the University but also unconcerned towards denigration of Hindu deities. Such colleges can develop only ‘Dharma-drohi’ students. Hindus should therefore, boycott such colleges. Even the university should ban such colleges from taking part in the Youth Festival for 3 years. Editor)
