Announcement by Maharashtra Minister (Excise Dept.)

Why such law was not passed for so many years ? The Govt. should give explanation on this ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat

Mumbai : Henceforth, beer-bars and pubs will not be able to have names like ‘Jai Ambe’, ‘Maharana Pratap’ etc. In the coming monsoon session of the State Assembly, a law is going to be passed to stop misuse of such names. The above announcement was made by Excise Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule after NCP MLA Amarsingh Pundit presented a ‘Lakshavedhi Suchana’ on 31st March, demanding immediate removal of name-boards bearing names of great national heroes and Deities from liquor shops and bars. (Congress – NCP MLAs should explain why such boards were not removed during their regime !- Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

Shri. Bawankule said that the above issue came under ‘Shop and Establishment (labour/Gumasta registration)’Act; therefore, restrictions cannot be imposed immediately; but a meeting will be held of members from both the Houses as also opinion of Law and Justice Department would be sought for passing such Act. Other members demanded that ban should be imposed even on giving names like ‘Doctors’ and ‘Teachers’ to foreign liquors.
