Pune : People go to Khadakvasala water reservoir and play with chemical colours leading to pollution of water; therefore, to protect this reservoir from such citizens, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other like-minded organizations have been undertaking a drive for the last 14 years. This year also on 2 days, i.e. on 13th March (Dhulivandan) and 17th March (Rangpanchami), awareness will be created amongst people by making a human-chain around the water reservoir. Employees, officers of ‘Cummins India Ltd.’ and local residents are going to participate in the drive. An appeal was made by Shri. Pravin Naik of Sanatan Sanstha during a press conference held here. He also informed that interested citizens can contact on 8983335517 for further details. Shri. Chaitanya Tagade of HJS, Shri. Vijay Gawade, the founder-President of ‘Gargi Seva Foundation’ and Shri. Sachin Pasalkar, Sarpanch of ‘Gorhe Budruk’ shared the dais with Shri. Naik.

The local administration has also imposed ban on citizens for entering Khadakvasala dam. Shri. Naik expressed satisfaction over action taken by the local administration; by taking note of the drive continuously undertaken by HJS and Sanatan Sanstha for protection of environment. Shri. Tagade gave detailed information about the drive.

There would be no need to undertake such drive in future ! – Sachin Pasalkar

We are witnessing this drive undertaken by HJS since past 14 years. As a citizen and our organization, ‘Sanskruti Raksha Manch’ has always taken active part in this drive. This drive has been successfully held for many years and due to awareness created by HJS amongst citizens, there would be no need for undertaking such drive in future. HJS volunteers stand in hot sun for the whole day and protect water reservoir. We are fortunate to get such opportunity to participate in this drive and help HJS volunteers, stated Shri. Pasalkar.

Shri. Vijay Gawade said that he would go to every college on behalf of HJS and ‘Gargi Foundation’ to explain science behind celebrating Holi and Rangpanchami.

Shri. Pravin Naik gave answers to questions asked by reporters as given below.

1. Few organizations are making wrong propaganda by advising to burn trash as ‘holi’ and donate ‘Puranpolis’ to poor but the citizens should not get misled and should celebrate the festival as per the science. It is not that HJS doesn’t support donation of food to the poor but it is against the insistence to disregard things prescribed in ‘Dharmashastra’. There is spiritual science for celebrating every festival; why festivals are celebrated and the right manner of celebrating should be understood by people. Lighting of Holi helps in purification of atmosphere.

2. Patrolling police squads should be formed to stop wrong things like teasing of women, throwing balloons filled with coloured water, consumption of liquor- smoking, driving rashly etc and youth involved in such wrong things should be taken into custody and stringent action should be taken against them. Also, action should be taken against sellers of harmful colours and balloons. HJS has already submitted representations to police administration for putting curb over wrong practices followed while celebrating these festivals and for celebration as per ‘Dharmashastra’. Awareness is also created amongst students by going to schools and colleges towards science for celebration of these festivals.
