HJS demands withdrawal of Anti-Hindu NCERT History textbooks

Ashadh Shuddha Trutiya, Kaliyug Varsha 5112

Sangli (Maharashtra): The curriculum set by NCERT of the Central Government is aimed at insulting Hindus as there is glorification of Mughal invaders and Shivachhatrapati has been given a very insignificant place; therefore, such curriculum should be withdrawn and glorious history of Hindus should be included in the new curriculum. The above demand was unanimously made by pro-Hindu organizations by taking a rally to the office of the District Collector. The rally was organized by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). A memorandum was submitted to the Resident Dy. Collector. A representation demanding imposition of ban on the book by James Laine was also submitted on the occasion.

The pro-Hindu party members who participated in the rally were Mrs. Sunita More of Shiv Sena (women’s front), Shiv Sena’s Dy. City-chief Mr. Haridas Padalkar, Zonal – chief Mr. Nitin Kale, Palus taluka Vice President Mr. Kumar Gaikwad; Mr. Hanamant Pawar and Mr. Abhijit Shinde of Shri Shiv-pratishthan, Mr. Ashokrao Telang of RSS, Mr. Narayanrao Kadam of Hindu Ekata Andolan, its Vice President Mr. Ashok Patil, Mrs. Lata Vaychal of BJP, Mr. Mahadeo Khambale of Mr. Sampradaya, Yuva-manch guardian minister Mr. Prakash Gaikwad, H. B. P. Ramakant Bongale Maharaj, Vedantacharya Lakshmanshastri Mote, Editor Mr. Pravin Kavathekar of monthly periodical ‘Lokjaagar’, a devout Hindu Mr. Pravin Gaikwad, Mr. Vinay Panwalkar of Dharmashakti Sena and HJS members viz. Dattatreya Retharekar, Lakshmikant Mayekar, Mrs. Vidya Jakhotia, Mrs. Madhura Tophkhane, in all about 400 devout Hindus.

Every Hindu must pray for elimination of anti-Hindu Government ! – Mr. Narayanrao Kadam

The Government is trying to ‘Islamize’ not only history but also the culture of this country which will have far-reaching effect. This government is harassing Hindus through different media; therefore, all Hindus should now pray for deposing of such government.

Hindus must now come out and retaliate ! – Mr. Vinay Panwalkar, Dharmashakti Sena, Chief of Maharashtra and Karnataka States

We are tolerating attacks on Hindu Dharma, therefore, the Government is trying to suppress Hindus. In pre-independence period, there used to be attacks by followers of other religions but now, our own Government is attacking our Dharma and culture. Such things will go on till Hindus do not unite. Hindus must, therefore, come out and fight against such attacks.

Mrs. Sunita More said, that there is ban on display of picture depicting Afzal Khan’s slaying, ban on picture showing Shahiste Khan’s cutting of fingers, there is Hindu-hatred in curriculum; all these things compel one to think whether the Government has taken a contract from the minorities for elimination of Hindu Dharma. Mr. Hanamant Pawar said that HJS has been trying to create awareness among Hindus and members of ‘Shri Shiva-pratishthan’ will participate in all campaigns undertaken by HJS. Mrs. Lata Vaychal said that awakened Hindus should set such books on fire.

Snippets

* HJS had distributed handbills to make people aware about its agitation. One such handbill was received by a parent of one student studying in a school where this curriculum is taught. On reading the pamphlet, the parent called up HJS members and said that he also agreed that such history should not be taught to children and HJS agitation was just. The curriculum has to be changed.

* In a school where this curriculum is followed, one of the teachers referred to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in singular with disrespect. One girl-student immediately got up in the class and brought it to the notice of that teacher after which he referred to Chhatrapati with respect.

Feedback

* Mr. Vilas Patil, Shivpremi Sanghatana, Khatav, Dist. Satara – In this curriculum, history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is given only in 4 lines. There is nothing more unfortunate than this. The Government should immediately take a note and change the curriculum.

Constant interrogation of the agitators by the police before and after the rally

The organizers were receiving continuous phone calls from the police before a week of the rally for interrogating them. They were collecting information like who was the organizer of the rally and who all were participating, what were the demands etc. There was tight security provided for the rally. The local and State Crime Branch staff was keeping a strict vigil on the rally. The matter written on the ‘Ratha’ participating in the rally was taken down by the police and a photo was also taken of the ‘Ratha’. The whole rally was video-recorded. The speeches by leaders were noted down. The police took down the contact numbers of agitators even after the rally. (Had the police shown such promptness in interrogating terrorists organizations rather than patriotic and devout citizens, terrorism and naxalism would have been eliminated from this country by now ! – Editor SP)
