Maharashtra : Report of HJS drive for preservation of honour of national flags

Awareness towards nation created all over Maharashtra through lectures, exhibition on revolutionaries and recitation of all stanzas of Vande Mataram !

68th Republic Day of independent India was celebrated on 26th January all over the country which could get freedom due to sacrifices made by revolutionaries. Presently, national sentiments have become weak amongst students since lessons on patriotism, life history of revolutionaries etc are not being taught through school curricula. As a result, national flags made of paper are found thrown all over streets immediately after flag hoisting and we have to see such insult of national flags with open eyes; though for honour of the flags, revolutionaries sacrificed their life and faced imprisonment. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been undertaking a drive since past 13 years for creating love and respect amongst students and citizens towards national emblems and for creating valour amongst them to face every problem, minor or major, affecting our country. On 26th January, the drive was undertaken on extensive scale. A report on the same is given below.

  1. After explaining the subject at Mulund, 200 students promised that they would not let the national flag fall on streets and would collect them, if found on streets. Awareness was created through guidance held during ‘Satyanarayan Mahapuja’ in one building which was attended by about 50 citizens.
  2. At National High School in Vikhroli, students were explained about maintaining honour of national flags and creating love and respect towards own mother tongue by avoiding use of words from foreign language, in our daily communication. 250 children attended the guidance.
  3. At Vidyadhiraj School in Bhandup, the Vice Principal commended HJS activities and granted permission to HJS for undertaking even other drives. In one coaching class, students from 10th standard promised to maintain honour of national flags. In a lecture held at flag-hoisting ceremony organized by a Ganesh Festival Committee, 50 persons were present. Dr. Lakshman Jathar of HJS hoisted the flag at one place. He does the ‘seva’ regularly of writing on display- board, about matters related to protection of nation and Dharma.
  4. Guidance on the subject was attended by 300 students in Kurla and 250 students in Ghatkopar. Two lectures were also held at Powai.
  5. After the lecture held at Dadar, participants spontaneously raised slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’.
  6. Local youth committee showed interest in holding ‘Dharmashikshan’ class in their ‘Mandal’ after the lecture held at Chunabhatti.
  7. A lecture was held in a society at Worli when 100 citizens were present. Similar lecture was held during flag-hoisting function at J K Sports Club. Shri. Subhash Chavan, the President of the ‘Mandal’, Shri. Ganesh Patil and Shri. Tukaram Mokal showed interest in organizing exhibition of flex-boards on life history of revolutionaries and holding regular ‘Dharmashikshan’ class in their area.
  8. People attending the lecture held at Jogeshwari met the speaker and appreciated knowledge imparted through the lecture.
  9. Lectures were held at a school in Sanpada; 3 buildings and in 2 schools at Koparkhairane which were attended by 700 students.
  10. Flex-boards on life-history of revolutionaries were also displayed at Borivali railway station.
  11. 450 Posters on maintaining honour of national flags were displayed at important places in Mumbai district and 1000 handbills on the subject were distributed.
  12. Exhibition on revolutionaries was held in various schools at Dombivali, Thane and Ambarnath which were visited by more than 1000 students.
  13. Shri. Sachin Vaidya, Sou. Nanda Nagane, Sou. Arati Komati, Shri. Pritam Patil, Kum. Tejaswini Tambat, Sou. Avani Shinde gave guidance at Jalgaon which was attended by 1500 students.
  14. Members of ‘Shivadarshan Seva Mandal’ at Bhandup (W) expressed regret over not generally getting to hear full national song ‘Vande Mataram’ with all stanzas and appreciated HJS for making it possible to listen to the full song.

Drive undertaken in different manner at Sinhgad (Pune)

Flag-hoisting was carried out by Circle-Officer Shekhar Shinde of Revenue Department at 7.30 a.m. at Sinhgad. Shri. Pravin Naik of HJS gave lecture on maintaining honour of national flags during this program which was attended by more than 70 citizens. A road-show was staged on the topic of ‘Self-defence Training – Need of the Hour’.

A procession was earlier taken out on Sinhgad during which many people spontaneously raised slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ etc. HJS volunteers staged the road-show at two more places at Sinhgad which was attended by 70 and 80 patriotic citizens respectively. Exhibition on revolutionaries’ mission, exhibition of books and ‘sattvika’ products was also held at the venue which was visited by more than 1000 people. ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ was undertaken on behalf of Raje Shivaraya Pratishthan. Professor Sunil Marathe joined the procession taken out to create awareness amongst people.
