Court should give severe punishment in cases of women oppression : Bhavya Gowda

Discussion session held on TV-9 news channel on ‘Women’s security’

Bengaluru (Karnataka) : Incident of molestation of women in a city is most unfortunate. The State Government is responsible for the same. The Government grants permission for New Year programs till 2.00 a.m. in the midnight of 31st December, for earning more revenue but ignores issues related to women’s safety. People oppressing women are not afraid of laws of this country; therefore, such incidents are occuring every now and then. In this background, Courts should give stringent punishment to the guilty in cases of women’s oppression, stated Kum. Bhavya Gowda from Ranaragini Division. In the night of 31st December, an incident involving molestation of few young women on M G Road was reported and in this background, TV-9 news channel recently conducted a discussion program. Shri. Mahendrakumar, a leader of Janata Dal (secular), advocate Pramila Nesargi and Manjula Vasan, State Women’s Commission’s former Vice President were the other participants of the discussion program.
