Miraj : Crackers cause severe air and noise pollution resulting in creating problems for health and environment. During Diwali, millions of rupees are spent on crackers. Today, the country owes Rs. 57.22 trillion of debt and is going through financial crisis. Millions of people in this country don’t get a square meal; therefore, spending millions of rupees on crackers is against the interests of the nation. If the same money is utilized for national welfare, many of the problems faced by this country would be solved; therefore, the Government should impose total ban on crackers which cause pollution, demanded Shri. Santosh Desai of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) during a press conference held on 24th October at Rang Sharada Hall in Miraj on the subject of crackers.

Advocate Samir Patwardhan, the President of ‘Sangli District advocates’ Parishada’, Sou. Madhura Tophkhane of Sanatan Sanstha and Shri. Dattatreya Retharekar of HJS also addressed the press conference.

Highlights : The press conference received good response from reporters. Local C Cable News and Balaji Cable interviewed Shri. Santosh Desai.
