Mapusa : A representation was submitted to Shri. Amar Kavalekar, the President of Shri Maharudra Sansthan (Shri Maruti Mandir) on behalf of Ranaragini Division demanding imposition of ban on women going to temple, wearing short dresses. This is demanded for preserving sanctity of the temple. The delegation of ‘Ranaragini Division’ which submitted the representation comprised of Sou. Rajashree Gadekar of ‘Ranaragini’, Sou. Shubha Sawant of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Sou. Anjali Nayak and Sou. Sharvani Agarwadekar of Sanatan Sanstha. Shri. Kavalekar responded positively towards the demand and made a collective prayer to the Deity for right action by all devotees, for maintaining sanctity of the temple.

It has been stated in the representation that it is observed that some young girls and women from Goa visit temples wearing short dresses which is ‘Dharmahaani’; therefore, to stop such ‘Dharmahaani’, ban should be imposed by temple trustees on wearing short dresses while visiting temples and notice to that effect can be displayed on boards at the entrance of temples for information of devotees. Such dress code has been implemented at Shri Mahalsa Devasthan of Mhardol, Shri Mangesh Devasthan of Mangeshi in Goa. These examples can be set as ideals by other temple trustees.
