‘Gudhi Padwa’ should be celebrated as National Festival – Pt. Vasantrao Gadgil, Shardapeetham

Pune (Maharashtra): When there was no system to measure time on this earth, Hindu chronology came into existence. The New Year celebrated on ‘Gudhi Padwa’ is Indian New Year, therefore, it should be celebrated as a national festival. Let us make a resolve to work for the protection of Nation and Dharma on this occasion rather than just enjoying it by eating sweets etc. We must also resolve to eradicate whatever is unrighteous. The above appeal was made by Pt. Vasantrao Gadgil of Shardapeetham. He was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of rally organized by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) in the background of ‘Gudhi Padwa’.

Mr. Rambhau Parikh of Shiv Sena, Mr. Vidyadhar Nargolkar of Swatantryaveer Savarkar Pratishthan and Mr. Sunil Ghanavat of HJS were also present. A short skit was staged by children on celebration of New Year on Gudhi Padwa. A squad of ‘Ranaragini’, men and women in traditional clothes, the flag-holders, group of 25 child-seekers to raise slogans etc.  in all about 275 participants who joined the rally.  The rally passed through different areas like Nagnath Par, Kumthekar Road, Vishrambaug Wada, Lakshmi Road, Shagun Chowk, Hutatma Shashank Malkapure Chowk and concluded at Ramanbaug Chowk where Mrs. Leela Ghole sang the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
