HJS demands to cancel the text book devised by NCERT for degrading Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Phalgun Krushna Panchami, Kaliyug Varsha 5111

Hamare Atit -2’, the text book on History set for VIIth standard by the Central Government’s National Committee for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has dedicated 5 lines for the life history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj whereas the whole book has been dedicated to the cruel Mughal invaders. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, as per the Hindu calendar, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) staged demonstrations at various places against the insult of Shivaji Maharaj. A demand was also made to either add more information on the life history of the Chhatrapati in the book or to withdraw the book from the curriculum.

Parliament speaker’s apathy to celebrate ‘Shivjayanti’

New Delhi: The members of Shiv Sena from the Lower and Upper Houses of the Parliament celebrated ‘Shiv-jayanti’ by garlanding the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This year, a letter was given to the Speaker of the Lower House seeking permission to celebrate ‘Shiv-jayanti’ but he did not bother to reply.

Shiv Sena MPs were, therefore, displeased for a while but since the permission was not denied for such celebration, Shri. Manohar Joshi discussed the matter with Sushama Swaraj, the leader of the Opposition and celebrated ‘Shiv-jayanti’. Mr. Sanjay Raut, Gajanan Babar, Subhash Wankhede, Ganesh Dudhgaonkar were the other Shiv Sena MPs who joined the celebration.
