Phalatan (Dist. Satara) : “We will not force anyone to immerse Shri Ganesh idols in artificial water tanks. We are creating awareness towards making idols from clay and you also do it. Owing to Government’s orders, we have to erect artificial water tanks for avoiding immersion of idols in potable water. No instances of donation of Ganesh idols are reported here. The Government should pass an Act for making Shri Ganesh idols only from clay”, stated Chief Officer Dhairyasheel Jadhav from Phalatan. A representation was submitted to him on 8th September on behalf of HJS appealing immersion of Shri Ganesh idols in flowing water as per Dharmashastra; instead of in artificial water tanks. He expressed the above views before a delegation of HJS. Shri Jadhav informed that CCTV would be fitted wherever artificial water tanks were erected. If idols immersed in these tanks don’t get dissolved, we will immerse them in a canal or well. Shri. Rajan Bunage, Shri. Ashish Kapase, Shri. Mangesh Khandare, Shri. Amol Raste and Sou. Manisha Bobade of HJS were present on the occasion.
