Ganesh Mandals should arrange for necessary protection to women devotees during Ganeshotsav !

‘Women-Safety during Religious festivals Campaign’ by Ranaragini Branch of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti

Mumbai – Lokmanya Tilak initiated community Ganeshotsav celebrations with the lofty ideal of awakening and uniting Hindus. This festival has now begun with great enthusiasm throughout the State. Though this festival is approaching the 125th year of celebration, it seems to have strayed from the founding ideals. In this festival, apart from various malpractices, unsavory elements take advantage of the crowd to harass women devotees. To counter this problem, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s Ranaragini Branch has started ‘Women Safety in Religious Festivals Campaign’. Many Ganesh Mandals have been made aware of this campaign, which is receiving positive response’

In this pamphlet an appeal is being made to all the Ganesh Mandals, they should fix CCTV cameras within their pandals, to ensure saftey of women devotees. There should be separate darshan lanes for women, they should station women volunteers, seek help from Policewomen, establish a separate women volunteer force during procession, and hand over those who are found harassing women to the police . Through hoardings and banners, citizens have been requested to actively participate in this public duty. Women interested in undergoing ‘Self Defense Training’ will be provided the same. We appeal to all the Ganesh Mandals to take part in this campaign and benefit from the blessings of Shri Ganesh.

The Ranaragini shakha’s motto is ‘Towards uniting women based on a morally fuelled feminine force’. This task being undertaken by the Ranaragini shakha is to ensure the stability of the future generations and we invite all women to wholeheartedly take part in it.. Those who are desirous of starting ‘Self Defense Training’ classes from the auspicious Ganesh festival, may contact us on 8451006119.
