Dharashiv : Drought conditions faced by Latur and Dharashiv (Usmanabad) districts of Marathwada should be surmounted and the areas of dam, catchment areas in Latur and Kalamb should get sufficient rains, was the purpose of performing ‘Parjanya-Yaag’ and ‘Suvrushtikarak Pravargya’ by ‘Prakruti Foundation’, Bengaluru and ‘Shri Yogiraj Veda Vidnyan Ashram’ of Kasarwadi, Barshi Taluka in Solapur district at Shri Sai Mangal Karyalaya on Dhoki Road, Kalamb. The ritual started on 26th July was concluded on 30th July at 2.00 p.m. with performing ‘Poornaahuti’. Shri. Samir Deshpande and his wife, Sou. Deepali Deshapande were the hosts of the ceremony, with 16 priests including ‘Ahitagni Somayaji’ Shri. Chaitanya Kale Guruji of ‘Shri Yogiraj Veda Vidnyan Ashram’.

Heavy rains after ‘Parjanya-Yaag’

This year, little rain fall has been received by few areas in Dharashiv district but the catchments areas and dams area did not receive any rain fall; therefore, to overcome the problem of drought and to get sufficient rain fall, rituals like ‘Parjanya-Yaag’ and ‘Suvrushtikarak Pravargya’ were performed, concluding on 30th July. On 30th July, the area received heavy rain fall at 11.00 p.m. and it rained continuously for 4 hours, proving the significance of ‘Yadnya-Yaag’ as mentioned in Indian culture. All roads in the city were flooded due to such heavy rain fall; the Manjra River started flowing with its full capacity; so also, Nagzari dam near Latur got totally filled with this rain fall. The area had recorded 55 mm of rain fall even when the ritual of ‘Parjayna-Yaag’ was started on 26th July.

Dharashiv : Latur and Dharashiv districts have been facing drought condition and problem in getting drinking water. Latur and Kalamb had similar problems; therefore, with the aim of getting sufficient rain fall by removal of drought with enough rains in the area of dams at Latur and Kalamb, ‘Parjany-yaag and Suvrushtikarak Pravargya Vidhi’ was started from 26th July at Kalamb; jointly by ‘Prakruti Foundation’ from Bengaluru and ‘Shri Yogiraj Veda Vidnyan Ashram’ from Kasarwadi-Barshi, Dist. Solapur. The ritual is being performed at Sri Sai Mangal Karyalaya, Dhoki Road, Kalamb and will be concluded on 30th July. Shri. Samir and Sou. Dipali Deshpande are the hosts of this ‘Yaag’.  

This year, there is little rainfall in some areas of Dharashiv district; but there is no rain in catchment areas; the area of dams. The ‘Parjanya-Yaag’ performed now comes under catchment area of Dhanegaon dam. After starting of this ritual, 55 mm rain fall has been recorded here. Shri. Chaitanya Kale Guruji, ‘Ahitagni Somayaji’ of ‘Shri Yogiraj Kale Veda Vidnyan Ashram’ is the ‘Yadnyacharya’ along with 16 ‘Rhutvij’ being the priests.
