Denigration of Lord Ganesh Idols : Officer apologize at HJS

Thane :The matter related to immersion of Lord Ganesh idols in the artificial ponds near Upavan lake in Thane and desecration of the idols while carrying out re-immersion was brought to light by the Hindu Jana-jagruti Samiti. In this context, the Area officer at Vartaknagar invited a delegation of HJS for discussions and rendered his apologies. He also assured the members of HJS that henceforth such mistake will not be committed.

For conservation of existing lakes in Thane, the municipality has built artificial ponds for immersion of Lord Ganesh idols. It was brought to light by HJS that while re-immersing; the idols were thrown from the bridge in the creek. HJS therefore, demanded to immediately stop such desecration of idols and a representation to that effect was submitted to Mayor of Thane and Municipal Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation. Taking a note of that representation, a delegation of HJS was invited for discussions and the concerned Area officer rendered apologies and gave assurance that the re-immersion of idols will be done in a proper way. HJS has warned that if proper action is not taken, the administration will have to face people’s rage.
