HJS drive to prevent malpractices in celebration of Holi festival

  • Police take action against 697 persons in Mumbai for driving vehicle under influence of liquor !
  • Effect of HJS drive undertaken for prevention of malpractices taking place on the occasion of ‘Holi and Dhulivandan’ !

Mumbai : Holi festival was peacefully celebrated in Maharashtra due to shortage of water caused because of famine in the State and awareness created by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and police amongst people. It was also observed that incidents of people driving vehicles under influence of liquor had somewhat reduced as police took action against 687 who were found under influence of liquor while driving vehicles. Last year, the number of such persons was 749. There was reduction even in other types of crimes compared to last year, owing to the drive undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on the occasion of Holi festival and Rang Panchami; leading to police and local administrations successfully making attempts for reduction of crimes happening during celebration of Holi festival.

After lighting ‘Holi’ fire, the celebration starts all over the State and it started on 23rd March at night. Incidents of rash driving under influence of liquor; teasing women; throwing colours and water-filled balloons at girls; driving two-wheelers without helmet etc. take place every year. 1291 traffic police were on duty; along with Mumbai police for maintaining law and order on the occasion of Holi and ‘Dhooli-vandan’ and for prevention of unpleasant incidents. Action was taken against many persons for breaking traffic rules while driving; by setting up check-posts at various places in the city.

25000 policemen of Mumbai were on duty and police were deployed at residential areas and main Chowks. The city police had issued notices to several persons during the days of festival, including issuing notices to residential housing cooperative colonies for prevention of malpractices. Barring few incidents of using loudspeakers and drunken driving, no serious incidents were reported, informed Mumbai police spokesperson and Dy. Police Commissioner Dhananjay Kulkarni. (Hindus lack knowledge on celebrating their festivals as per Dharma-shastra; in the absence of Dharmashikshan ! Hindus have distorted nature of celebrating their own festivals; therefore, police have to use force. It is not right that police strength has to be used for such purpose when the country is already under shadow of terrorists’ attacks. Hindus expect that the Government would impart Dharmashikshan to Hindus on war-footing at least now ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
