Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): The ‘love jihad,’ allegedly planned by Muslim youths would lead to serious communal riots in Kerala, Bharatiya Janata Party state president P K Krishna Das said.

Talking to reporters here, he said though the High Court had directed the police to prepare a report on the instances of girls in colleges being lured into embracing Islam by their classmates professing love, he alleged that the Home Department was taking the issue ”very lightly.” He demanded a probe into the issue by a senior police official in the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).

Stating that 972 girls were still missing in the state, the BJP leader said the government had not taken the issue seriously nor effective steps to trace or find the whereabouts of the missing girls.

Claiming that Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Kollam and Malappuram were the major centres of conversion, he said the State Home Department should take immediate steps to shut down such centres.

If the police did not take steps to close down their activities, the people in the state would handle the issue and have serious repurcussions, he cautioned.

Alleging that ISI of Pakistan was behind ‘love jihad,’ he said their primary target was Hindu and Christian girls.

The Muslim boys pretending that they were making sincere love forced the girls to watch videos and made them read books glorifying religious extremism. The girls were later used for smuggling, drug trafficking and other terrorist activities, he alleged.

Welcoming the reaction of Mujahids’ against love jihad, he said other Muslim organisations should make clear their stand in this regard.
