Success of HJS’ agitation against N.C.E.R.T.’s distorted history text!

G.B.S. & H.S.E. decides to change the controversial matter in the Std. VII history text

Hindus, let us pay gratitude to God for this success!

Panaji (Goa): The N.C.E.R.T. has made a fleeting mention of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the history text book for Std. VII, thereby according negligible position to him. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), along with like minded organizations, parents and teachers had launched a National level agitation against the said textbook from March 13th 2009.  The G.B.S. & H.S.E. has taken cognizance of this agitation and decided to change two whole chapters glorifying Mughals from the said text.

Likewise, it has decided to incorporate the local history in place of the same. The objectionable matter in other chapters of the said book is also going to be removed. This information was given by reliable sources of the G.B.S. & H.S.E. Last year, N.C.E.R.T.’s Std. X ‘History & Civics’ text containing distorted text was withdrawn after a similar agitation by the HJS and other like minded organizations. (O Hindus, keep the agitation against the entire anti-Hindu syllabus of the N.C.E.R.T. till the true historical facts reach the society! – Editor)

Out of the 154 pages of the history text book of Std. VII, most of the pages have been dedicated to the information on Mughals and other Muslim kings who had invaded Hindustan, whereas the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who fought the foreign Mughal aggressors and established Hindu state has been concluded in just 4 lines. Not only this, the books contain pictures of kings of 16th century like Babar, Akbar etc. but there is not a single picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who ruled in the 17th century. This shows that Shivaji Maharaj has been relegated to an insignificant position in the book. Again strangely, the name of Maharana Pratap also does not figure in the Rajput history. Also, the local history has not been included inspite of this being mandatory.

Thus, the HJS and other likeminded organizations had staged an agitation to demand immediate withdrawal of this book from the curriculum. As a part of this agitation, various constitutional measures such as holding taluka level meetings, submitting memorandums, staging demonstrations and rallies, etc. were adopted.  Also devout and patriotic citizens organized a mock funeral procession of a symbolic statue of the N.C.E.R.T. and later immersed it in the Mandovi river.

Finally, the G.B.S. & H.S.E. took cognizance of this agitation and took the above decision as per suggestions made by the History Review Committee. (In our country, distorted and fake history of Muslims is taught with the help of the administration, whereas Hindus have to agitate to demand that true history be taught. In order to change this situation, a thought revolution is the need of the hour! – Editor) The G.B.S. & H.S.E. has appointed a review committee to study the book and suggest necessary changes therein.  The Board has roped in some historians for the same as per sources.

G.B.S. & H.S.E should study all History texts of N.C.E.R.T. from Std. V to Std. X – HJS

With regards to the above decision of the Board, the HJS has suggested that in order to inculcate patriotism in the students they should have before them our national figures as ideals. Also, instead of referring to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s history related to the land of Goa, his overall history should be included in the text. The Board should study all history texts of N.C.E.R.T. from Std. V to Std. X.

Panaji (Goa): The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) along with office bearers of various like-minded organisations, principals, teachers, parents, educationists, history lovers and students conducted demonstrations outside Sree Hanuman temple (near Kadamba Bus Stand) to convey to the government, administration and the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (G.B.S. & H.S.E.) that N.C.E.R.T.’s textbook which accords secondary status to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj shall not be entertained and should be withdrawn immediately.

Slogans such as ‘Stop the Islamisation of textbooks’, ‘Har Har Mahadev’ were shouted. The agitators held placards with related matter written on them. Agitators infuriated due to the indifference of the government, administration and the G.B.S. & H.S.E. towards this controversial text made a funeral pyre and placed a statue symbolic of the N.C.E.R.T. and its Std. VII controversial history text on the pyre and conducted a funeral procession of the same. At this time, slogans such as ‘Down with N.C.E.R.T.!’, ‘N.C.E.R.T. is fake!’ were shouted. When the agitators reached the middle of Mandovi Bridge, N.C.E.R.T.’s statue was thrown into the river, thereby immersing it.

Later the agitators turned towards Sree Hanuman temple and expressed gratitude to the deity. At this time, HJS’ Shri. Jayesh Thali appealed to all present to actively participate in the forthcoming Voters Awareness Campaign. Finally, everybody present gave a warning to the government that if it has respect for the sentiments of Hindus, it should declare its stand with regard to the said controversial textbook with immediate effect.
