Pune (Maharashtra): The drive undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to prevent pollution of water reservoir at Khadakvasala was a complete success like last year. This was the 8th year of this campaign. All the staff of Haveli Police Station, staff of Irrigation and Forest Departments also participated in the drive.

Indecent behavior of young girls and boys, harmful chemicals in colours used to play ‘Holi’, plastic bags, left over food etc. cause pollution of water of Khadakvasala Reservoir. People gathering at the reservoir also create traffic jam, music played loudly in vehicles visiting the place, vulgar dances and noise pollution result in losing the very sanctity of the celebration of ‘Holi’ festival. HJS, therefore, undertook this drive to prevent malpractices and protection of Dharma.

Many leaders like Shri. Anil Mate and Nana Mate of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena, Shri. Nandu Mate, former Dy. Sarpanch of Khadakvasala, Mrs. Anjali Joshi and Shri. Shashank Mulye of Sanatan Sanstha, S/Shri. Sunil Ghanavat and Girish Dhumal of HJS joined the drive. Shri. Satish Patil, senior police inspector of Haveli Police Station personally supervised and instructed his staff. Smt. Sujata Shah from Manikbaug made arrangement of food for the participants on both the days and offered best wishes for the campaign.

The reservoir was cordoned off by the participants and they were explaining to people trying to enter the reservoir about its adverse effects. People from the area appreciated the campaign and were happy for prevention of pollution of water in the reservoir. Even the police department, Irrigation and Forest Departments lauded HJS drive.
