Bikaner : There is no reference to bursting of crackers in Hindu Dharma and it is a practice started by emulating other countries. Crackers cause lot of noise and air pollution and cause harm to people’s health and environment. On the occasion of Diwali, crackers worth Rs. 4000 crores are burst in India. The Government should impose ban on crackers with pictures of Deities and great national leaders along with those causing pollution. A representation to the above effect was submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the additional District Collector Shri. Hariprasad Pipralia. Shri. Bhavanishankar Parihar, Shri. Savan Soni, Shri. Manoj Singh, Shri. Rajendra Singh, Shri. Gajanan Keskar and Shri. Anand Jakhotia were present on the occasion.

As per the study conducted by Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, owing to poisonous metals and chemicals used in manufacture of crackers, 1600 metric ton dangerous trash is created after bursting. This trash gets mixed with food, soil, air and water causing lot of pollution and harm to environment. If such is the condition in one State, one can imagine the condition of country due to bursting of crackers. Further, crackers are manufactured with pictures of Deities like Shri. Lakshmi, Srikrushna, Shri. Vishnu etc. so also pictures of great national leaders. When these crackers are burst, pictures get torn to pieces causing abuse, desecration of Deities and hurting religious sentiments of people, says the representation.
