Saints meeting to stop Christianization of Tirupati

Tirumala Tirupati, the place of pilgrimage in Andhra Pradesh is visited by thousands of Hindus all through out the year. A meeting of saints was held under the leadership of Tirumala Tirupati Security Committee (TTSC). The meeting was presided over by H. H. Vishweshateertha, the Muttadhipati, Udupi-Pejawar. Many saints including Swami Dayanand Saraswati from Coimbatore Arshavidya Peeth attended the meeting. Shri Shivanand Prabhu, the spokesperson of Hindu Jana-jagruti Samiti’s South Region was also present. Staunch Hindus and workers of Hindu organizations from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala were present in large no. Many proposals related to stopping Christianization of Tirupati were approved in the said meeting. In His presidential speech, Swami Vishwesh Teertha warned that if the State Government does not take action on the approved proposals of TTSC by 9th August, there will be agitations under the leadership of Lord Venkateshwara. He also said that Hindus should now be ready to sacrifice their life for God’s work.
Proposals passed in the meeting
1. Law recently passed by the State Government de-recognizing the sanctity of seven hills should be repealed and the whole area covering 250 sq. kms. of seven hills be declared as belonging to Lord Venkateshwara.
2. All non-Hindus on Tirumala hills should be shifted.
3. Tirumala is a place of pilgrimage and not a tourists’ place.
4. The Government should not support activities of non-Hindus in educational and medical organizations run by the Tirumala Tirupati Trust.
5. Donations received by the Tirumala Tirupati trust should be utilized for religious and spiritual activities.
Swami Dayanand contended that management of fund-raising Hindu religious organizations should be looked after only by the Hindu Religious Organizations and the Government propagating secularism should not interfere in appointments of officials for managing the place.
