Hindus object to use of Hari in TV ad

CHANDIGARH: Some religious organisations on Friday sent a letter to the CEO of a firm urging him to stop the telecast of its television advertisement that allegedly ‘heaps abuses’ on the ‘sacred name of Hari’.

By airing the ad, the firm and the channel that telecast it had hurt the sentiments of Hindus, Shiv Sena Hindustan leader Ravinder Arora and Mahavir Mandir Trust (Ludhiana) treasurer O V Tripathi said in the letter.

‘Hari’ is not just a word, it is the name of God and is sacred for Hindus all over the world, they said.

The leaders claimed that the firm had used the sacred word for cheap publicity and threatened to organise protests and take legal action against the company if the ad was not withdrawn immediately.
