Sri Sri Ravi Shankar meets Iraqi PM in Baghdad

Baghdad: Spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is on a 3-day visit to Iraq, met Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki in Baghdad soon after his arrival in the strife-torn capital city on Tuesday.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who has undertaken this visit at the invitation of Maliki, is expected to meet with several leaders from the Sunni, Shia and Kurdish parties.

At his meeting with Maliki, Sri Sri, the first Indian spiritual leader to visit Iraq, urged the Iraqi prime minister to start Art of Living prison reform programmes in his country in an effort to end the strife.

An AOL press release said their volunteers have been working in Iraq since 2003 to help the Iraqi people overcome their suffering by conducting trauma relief courses and offering medicines, food and clothing.
