Mumbai – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Wednesday that a committee of female legislators will be formed to suggest necessary amendments in existing laws dealing with cases of religious conversion and sexual harassment in the corporate sector within the state.
The Chief Minister was responding to a question regarding a case of sexual harassment and religious conversion at the TCS office in Nashik. He described the incident as an eye-opener and noted that in many cases, laws are not being properly implemented in corporate companies. Fadnavis said the committee, comprising women members from both houses of the legislature, will recommend changes to the existing laws and ensure their effective implementation to address such cases.
He added that TCS has fully cooperated with the investigation and clarified that the company has no role in the matter.
Investigation ordered into Spanish company case
The Chief Minister has also ordered a probe into an alleged sexual harassment case involving a female employee at a Spanish company in Pune district. Shiv Sena Legislative Council member Manisha Kayande informed him that the victim was dismissed from her job after she complained to higher authorities. Fadnavis assured that a senior official will complete the investigation within 15 days and submit a report.
On complaints of religious conversion at the government ITI in Solapur, Fadnavis said an immediate investigation would be ordered and strict action would be taken.
