Demands stern enforcement of NDPS Act and probe into possible jihadi conspiracy behind narcotics spread

Hupari (District Kolhapur) – In the Hupari Panchkroshi region, including the five-star industrial estate in the area, the use and spread of cannabis and other narcotic substances has been increasing alarmingly in recent times. A large number of youth are particularly falling into the grip of addiction, which is adversely affecting their health, education, and the moral and social well-being of society.
Gangs involved in the illegal sale and distribution of cannabis and drugs are active in the region, putting the future of the younger generation at risk. As this is also leading to an increase in criminal activities, it is extremely dangerous for society.
In this background, a Hindu Rashtra-Jaguti Andolan was held at Netaji Subhash Chandra Chowk in Hupari, Kolhapur immediate and stringent action against individuals involved in the sale and spread of cannabis and drugs in the region, as well as against those providing support or protection to such offenders. The demonstration further called for a thorough and impartial investigation to determine whether any jihadi conspiracy is behind the surge in drug trafficking activities in the area.
Shri. Sunil Ghanwat, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh State Organiser of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, demanded that an investigation be conducted into whether organised drug rackets involved in the sale of cannabis and opium are active in various districts of Maharashtra and whether there is any jihadi conspiracy behind drug trafficking in the state. He also stated that Shiv Sena MLA Shri. Rajesh Kshirsagar has assured that this issue will be raised in the ongoing Assembly session.
Some of the demands made during the protest

- Immediate and strict action should be taken against cannabis and drug peddlers in the Hupari, Kolhapur area under Section 8 (preparation for sale or sale) and Section 20 (transportation) of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985).
- Cases should also be registered under Section 29 (abetment or criminal conspiracy) against those supporting them, and strict action should be taken against anyone backing these criminals.
- A special campaign should be conducted under Section 27 of the NDPS Act to expose and dismantle the supply chain of narcotic substances in the State.
- In every district of Maharashtra, a special drive should be undertaken to identify and completely dismantle the drug supply networks operating in the State.
This Andolan underscores the urgent need to safeguard the youth from the devastating consequences of drug addiction and to strengthen law enforcement mechanisms against trafficking syndicates.
