Over 1,000 participants from Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, and Belagavi districts

Kolhapur (Maharashtra): More than 1,000 young women from Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Belagavi districts took part in the ‘Shaurya Jagruti Prashikshan Shibir’ and pledged to become ‘Ranragini’ — strong, prepared, and committed to protecting themselves and contributing to the protection of society and Dharma.
The large-scale camp was jointly organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Savyasachi Gurukulam, and Bhagirathi Mahila Sanstha on 7 December 2025 at Padmaraje Girls’ High School in Kolhapur, on the occasion of Shivpratap Din. Participants drew inspiration from the heroic legacy of Chhatrapati Tararani and resolved to walk the path of self-respect, courage, and preparedness.
The programme commenced with lamp-lighting followed by a floral tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Self-defence training and demonstrations
The camp featured training sessions in martial arts, karate, lathi-kathi and situational self-defence techniques, with demonstrations showcasing how women can practically use protective skills in real-life danger. Warrior-style presentations by the male and female fighters of Savyasachi Gurukulam added an energetic dimension to the event. Each participant received a certificate of completion.

Jointly organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Savyasachi Gurukulam & Bhagirathi Mahila Sanstha at Kolhapur, Maharashtra

Kolhapur (Maharashtra): With growing insecurity, street harassment, molestation by goons, and cyber abuse, the safety of women and young girls has become a serious social concern. To make every young woman safe, confident, and self-reliant, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Savyasachi Gurukulam, and Bhagirathi Mahila Sanstha have jointly organised a free ‘Shaurya Jagruti Prashikshan Shibir’ at Kolhapur.
The event is scheduled for 7 December 2025 at the Padmaraje Girls High School, Khari Corner, Kolhapur.

This will be the first specialised training programme of its kind in Maharashtra, where over a thousand young women will receive free self-defence training guided by more than 100 expert instructors. This information was shared by Shri. Sunil Ghanwat, the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh State Organiser for the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, during a press conference held in Kolhapur.
Shri. Ghanwat emphasised that this initiative is the need of the hour. Citing the statistics from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), he noted that over 10 lakh young women have gone missing across the country in the last three years, with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases. Therefore, taking concrete steps for the protection of women in society is imperative. The camp will demonstrate practical methods for self-defence in dangerous situations. Additionally, an inspiring flex exhibition on revolutionaries will be displayed at the venue on 7 December, which will remain open exclusively for school students on 8 December.
Principal Shri. Lakhan Jadhav of ‘Savyasachi Gurukulam’ stated that trained female instructors from the Gurukulam will provide special training to the participants. Furthermore, a historical exhibition of weapons from the era of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be set up, displaying rare weapons such as swords, shields, spears, and daggers (katyar).
Sadguru Swati Khadye of Sanatan Sanstha informed that registration for over 1,000 young women has already been completed for this camp organised on the occasion of ‘Shivpratap Din’. Along with training in karate and lathi-kathi (stick fighting), guidance will be provided on increasing inner confidence and mental strength. Certificates will be awarded to all attendees.
