Education about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be made compulsory in Maharashtra schools – Education Minister Dada Bhuse.

Pune, Maharashtra – The 10th Yuva Warkari Parishad, organised recently by the ‘Warkari Sampradaya Yuva Manch’, concluded in Pune in an enthusiastic atmosphere. Responding positively to the key demands of the Warkari community, the Maharashtra Education Minister, Shri. Dada Bhuse made several important announcements. He stated that teaching about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would be made mandatory in schools of all mediums across Maharashtra, and that this decision had also received the positive consent of the Union Education Minister.

The Warkari Sampraday Yuva Manch was established in 2009 based on the concept of H.B.P. Chaitanya Maharaj Deglurkar and H.B.P. Pramod Maharaj Jagtap. During the Parishad, Mr Sunil Ghanwat, the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh State Organiser for the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, presented significant demands before the government. On this occasion, Mahant Guruvarya P.P. Ramgiri Maharaj stated, “This government is favourable towards spirituality.”
Shri. Sunil Ghanwat from HJS placed the following demands before the government

1. Mandatory respectful reference to Saints: Currently, textbooks mention Saints in a standard manner (e.g., Sant Tukaram, Sant Dnyaneshwar). Instead, respectful titles such as ‘Santshreshtha Dnyaneshwar Mauli’ and ‘Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj’ must be made mandatory.
2. Revoke the order to remove images of Ganpati and Saraswati Devi: In 2020, during Minister Girish Mahajan’s tenure, certain groups demanded the removal of images of Ganpati and Saraswati Devi from schools. The orders issued in this context must be revoked immediately.
3. Strict action against incidents of students being beaten for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’: In Pen (Raigad), a Muslim teacher inhumanely beat a minor Hindu student for saying ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Strict action must be taken against such incidents, and the government should issue a written order to this effect.
4. Discontinue the ‘Scientific Mindset’ project: Driven by the Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti, this project is mentally conditioning students against Hindu festivals, customs, and beliefs, thereby promoting atheism. This project must be stopped immediately and relevant orders must be issued to the schools.
Positive Response from the Education Minister
Maintaining a positive approach towards the demands of the Warkaris, Education Minister Shri. Dada Bhuse emphasised several key points:
- Formation of a committee: The government will form a committee to promote social enlightenment activities and necessary action will be taken on all suggestions.
- Patriotic students: The cooperation of ex-servicemen will be sought to build patriotic students.
- World Record: The government aims to set a world record for a patriotism-based parade on 26 January, similar to the celebrations on 15 August.
