The committee recommends urgent rehabilitation of Hindus with Police protection

Lakshmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) : A judicial committee set up after the riots in Sambhal in November 2024 has submitted its report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The 450-page report contains information on the Shahi Jama Masjid and the Harihar temple. It confirms evidence of the temple’s historical existence. At the time of Independence in 1947, Hindus formed 45 per cent of the local population, but now only 15 to 20 per cent remain. The report states that due to riots and the politics of appeasement, Hindus were forced to flee, leading to a rise in the Muslim population.
What else does the Sambhal report reveal?
The report records not only the 24 November 2024 violence but also the history of other riots in Sambhal, their number and details.
Riots took place there in 1947, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1962, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1990, 1992, 1995, 2001, 2019 and 2024. In total, 15 riots have occurred in Sambhal since Independence.
Terrorist organisations active in Sambhal
The report highlights that Sambhal has become a hub for terrorist organisations. Groups such as Al-Qaeda and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen have established networks in the area.
“Hindus are the ones being reduced, divided and killed” – Mahant Rajudas
Reacting to the report, Mahant Rajudas of Hanumangarhi in Ayodhya said that in a country where Hindus are the majority, it is Hindus who are becoming a minority, being divided and killed. This is not confined to one region but is a global issue. Across the 57 Muslim-majority countries, communities such as Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, Jews, Christians and Hindus have been wiped out. In India, too, where Muslims are in the majority, the situation is similar. The report has revealed that riots were orchestrated, Hindu religious leaders were targeted for killing and demographic changes were engineered.
“Must a mosque be built only upon a Hindu temple to please Allah ?”
Mahant Rajudas questioned why control is sought over Hindu mutts and temples, and why mosques are built upon sacred Hindu sites. Are there no other places in India for mosques ? Must a mosque be erected only upon a Hindu temple to please Allah ? Unless regressive practices in the Quran are reformed and the teaching of fanaticism is stopped, such extremism will persist. He further said that Muslim intellectuals have never tried to embrace Hindus or give them opportunities for progress. Instead, their thinking has remained focused on how to diminish Hindus, reduce their numbers and seize their places of worship. This report, he stated, has made these facts clear.
