Mumbai – 25 paintings of M.F. Hussain, who painted nude and obscene paintings of Hindu Deities and Bharatmata, and who could not return to India due to over 1,200 complaints filed against him, are set to be auctioned. 17 of them were kept in banks till now. These paintings are related to a Rs 100 crore loan scam, a Rs 235 crore loan scam and even a CBI inquiry. An English newspaper has reported that one of his paintings will be auctioned on June 12th by the Pundole’s Art Gallery at Hamilton House in Mumbai. The then Government had awarded M.F. Hussain the ‘Padma Bhushan’ award in 1973 and the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ award in 1991.
