Mumbai: The proposed Anti faith Bill and Temple Takeover Bill are an attack on Hindu Dharma and they should be cancelled. This demand was made by religious and social institutions, temple trustees and the HJS who staged strong demonstrations at the Parel railway station between 5 to 7 pm for the same. HJS has decided to stage such demonstrations all over Mumbai and aware the Hindus against this anti-Hindu Bills.

It received an overwhelming response from the public who participated in large numbers. The demonstrators registered their protests by holding protest placards and shouting anti-Government slogans. During the same, HJS’ Mumbai District Convenor Shri. Shivaji Vatkar said that although the Anti-Superstition Act has been framed to eliminate superstitions, Section 13 contained therein is unconstitutional. Senior legal experts of the Supreme Court have publicly confirmed that this Act is capable of bringing restrictions on religious observances and practices. Many members of the Legislative Council have expressed that this Act restricts religious freedom of an individual and is unconstitutional.

The Maharashtra Government which is incapable of curbing malpractices prevalent in temples that are already under its control is attempting to pass the ‘Temple Takeover Act’ to bring 4 lakhs 50 thousand Hindu temples and religious institutions under its control, under the pretext of carrying on their administration and regulation smoothly. However, the Government has conveniently excluded mosques, Dargahs and Madarsas from the purview of this Act. We are conducting this demonstration to strongly oppose this move taken by the Government, said Shri. Shivaji Vatkar.
