Will immerse the idols (immersed in artificial tanks) in rivers – Rohini Shendge, Mayor, Nagar

Devout Hindus handing over the petition to Mayor Rohini Shendge

Nagar : A delegation of devout Hindus met Mayor Rohini Shendge here and requested her to take steps to stop the denigration of Shri Ganesh which takes place when the idols are donated or immersed in artificial tanks, which are against the scriptures. The mayor said that the artificial tanks were being prepared for immersion since the water in Nagar was polluted. She assured the delegation that the idols would be re-immersed in clean flowing water the next day.

Mr Dinesh Hirgude of ‘Hoy Hinduch’ said that local sellers of Shri Ganesh idols leave the damaged idols and they are carried away from there by garbage vans the next day.

Mayor assured him saying that they will keep a note of that and the sellers will be given instructions to that effect in the meeting with them and care will be taken to see that none of the sellers leave damaged idols there.

Mr Rameshwar Bhukan, Mr Pramod Jere of HJS, Mr Dinesh Hirgude, Mr Neelesh Datarange, Mr Vishwas Deshmukh, Mr Bhushan Sonavne of ‘Hoy Hinduch’ were present. The petition was also given to the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector.
