Upcoming movie ‘Satyanarayan Ki Katha’ is now ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ due to Hindus’ protest

It was in July 2021 that the makers of Satyanarayan Ki Katha announced that they are undergoing a title change. The director of the film, Sameer Vidwans, issued a statement to announce the change. It said that the title was changed to avoid hurting sentiments, even if that’s purely unintentional. Satyanarayan Ki Katha has finally got a new title now, which is Satyaprem Ki Katha.

When makers Announced Satyanarayan Ki Katha’s title change

The statement by director Sameer Vidwans read, “A title of the film is something that emerges organically through the creative process. We have taken a decision to change the title of our recently announced film ‘Satyanarayan ki Katha’ to avoid hurting sentiments, even if that’s purely unintentional. Producers of the film and the creative team also are in complete support of this decision. We will be announcing a new title for our love story in the due course of our journey. Sincerely, Sameer Vidwans (sic).”

Why did the film change its title?

Satnarayan Ki Katha got embroiled in a controversy in Madhya Pradesh. Hindu organisation, Sanskriti Bachao Manch, on Saturday submitted a memorandum to register a criminal case against producer Sajid Nadiadwala in different police stations of Bhopal. Talking to India Today, the president of Sanskriti Bachao Manch, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, alleged that for some time, efforts have been made to humiliate Hindu deities through films and Satyanarayan Ki Katha is also one of them. He added that the organisation will not tolerate any attempt being made to hurt Hindu public sentiments by producing such films.
