Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir
There is a lot of ‘renewed clamour’ for Indo-Pak talks to “settle” Kashmir issue, disregarding the fact of the matter that the so-called Kashmir dispute lost its relevance after the formation of Bangladesh in 1971. In so far as the cry of ‘Autonomy’ and ‘self-rule’ is concerned, these slogans have lost their sheen as the matter extinguished in 1975 after the Indira-Abdullah accord. The only thing that needs to be settled with Pakistan is the return of the illegally annexed territories of Jammu and Kashmir which has been clearly enumerated by the unanimous resolution of the Parliament in 1994.
Prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman, PAC
The upcoming visit of the Prime Minister seems to be Kashmir centric. The PM’s employment package announced five years back for displaced Kashmiri Hindus has been inadequately implemented. The inhuman conditionalities attached with the package have created a host of problems for our younger generation. The residents of Jagti Township are suffering due to the lack of basic facilities. They are being subjected to eighteen hours power cut which is a grave violation of their human rights. The Prime Minister should have announced substantial measures in favour of the displaced community which is the primary victim of terrorism in the J&K state.
Shri Virender Raina, Spokesperson-PK
In a state where the victims of terrorism continue to languish for want of a comprehensive rehabilitation policy, the move to rehabilitate the ex-militants (based in Pak/POK) in Jammu and Kashmir is spiteful and is tantamount to rubbing salt in the wounds of the victims of terror. Panun Kashmir and all nationalist forces have been consistently opposing the State’s ‘lukewarm’ policy on terrorism. Panun Kashmir unequivocally demands that the government should shun the ‘policy of running with the hare and hunting with the hound’ as it has proved counterproductive in the past.
