HJS peacefully demonstrate against anti-Hindu play

Mumbai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held peaceful demonstrations against Marathi play ‘Vastraharan’ for the reason that its dialogues are indecent and against the holy books like Mahabharata. The play also indulges in denigration of deities and mockery of national heroes revered by Hindus.

Members of HJS gave a representation to the senior police officer at Borivali police station about the peaceful demonstrations proposed to be held against the play. As the members of HJS went to the police station to submit representation, the senior police officer, while instructing his colleague to accept the representation, remarked that the play was being staged for the past 25 years. A copy of the order was also given to the members of HJS prohibiting assemblage of people at the venue. Although there were only 7 persons participating in the demonstrations, there were 15 policemen, 2 police officers and 3 vehicles to guard the theatre. After reading the hoarding displayed outside the theatre, a member of audience went back without watching the play and said before leaving that he was boycotting the play in support of protection of Dharma and our culture. He also said that he would make aware at least 10 persons about the matter.
