Kolar (Karnataka) : Bandh called by Hindu groups over stone-pelting incident gets good response

Shriram Sena’s President Pramod Mutalik and office bearers released after precautionary detention

Kolar (Karnataka) : Religious fanatics had attacked a bus carrying ‘Dattamala-dhari’ devotees going to ‘Dattapeeth’ at Chikmagalur a few days ago. Call of ‘Bandh’ was given at Kolar to condemn the attack which received a very good response. The shopkeepers spontaneously kept their shops closed and joined the ‘Bandh’. A memorandum was submitted to Kolar’s District Collector Selvimani and Superintendent of Police (SP) D K Kishore Babu, demanding arrests of religious fanatics involved in the brutal attack. Shriram Sena’s chief executive Mr Arun Prakash, regional president Mr Ramesh Raj, activist Supreet; ‘Hindu Jagaran Vedika’s Kishore Ramamurthy; Bajrang Dal’s Mr Babu; ‘Shri Balaji Om Shakti’s Mr Chalapati, etc led the demonstrations. Tight security was maintained in the background of ‘Bandh’ under the supervision of  SP D K Kishore Babu. Kolar’s District Collector was also present. He had imposed restrictions on Shriram Sena’s Chief Pramod Mutalik to enter Kolar and arrested him as a precautionary measure when he tried to enter.

The following main demands were made through the memorandum submitted to the District Collector on the occasion of ‘Bandh’.

1. The gambling business run at Clock Tower in Kolar city should be immediately stopped and legal action should be taken against the offenders.

2. A police-chowki should be set up near Idgah Maidan for the safety of Hindu citizens passing by in that area. Idgah Maidan, railway hotel, tea stall, canteen, and shops engaged in illegal activities are kept open till 2-3 a.m. Legal action should be taken against them.

3. All illegal shops selling beef in the city should be immediately removed.

4. Rickshaws operated in Kolar city without a license should be found out and legal action should be taken against the concerned.

5. Loudspeakers illegally fitted on mosques should be immediately removed following the Supreme Court’s orders.

6. Ladies waiting at the Tower bus stop in Kolar city face indecent behavior by certain factions; legal action should be taken against the concerned. (Why  such demands have to be made ? Police and local administration don’t notice these things or they are deaf and blind ? Hindus feel that at least in the State ruled by BJP, Hindus should not be required to give such a memorandum ! – Editor, HinduJagruti.org)
