Guwahati (Assam) : The BJP while demanding constitutional and legal protection of the persecuted Hindus compelled to migrate to India from Bangladesh or any other country, announced that it is going to file a petition before the Human Rights Commission to put an end to the discrimination against these migrant Hindus.

Addressing media persons here on Sunday, BJP national president Nitin Gadkari voiced the party’s concern regarding the reported atrocities perpetrated upon the minority Hindus in Pakistan and said that it was the moral duty of the Indian government to act at the earliest to protect the Hindus.

It is very unfortunate that the Congress has been indifferent to the sufferings of the migrant Hindus although way back in 1950 Jawaharlal Nehru had given the assurance that the persecuted Hindus would be enjoying the rights under the provisions of the Constitution of India,” said Gadkari adding that the Tarun Gogoi government too had promised before the elections that the migrant Hindus would not be treated unfairly, but is yet to fulfil its promise.

Gadkari pointed out that the inclusion of names of the persecuted Hindus in the D voters list was proof of Tarun Gogoi government’s apathy towards the Hindus. “The Congress has betrayed the Hindus from Bangladesh,” he said.

Terming the treatment meted out to the persecuted Hindus in India a gross violation of human rights, Gadkari said that the BJP will intensify its movement for justice for the persecuted Hindus.

The party has also decided to appoint a legal committee to seek legal redress for the persecuted Hindus.

We are also going to raise this issue in both Houses of Parliament,” said Gadkari.

On the other hand, Gadkari said that the BJP considered politics as an instrument of socio-economic reforms and affirmed the party’s commitment for the people of Assam. He said that inspite of being endowed with all the resources, Assam was still lagging behind only because of the wrong economic policies and rampant corruption of the Congress.
