Nashik (Maharashtra) : ‘Nandini Agarbatti Pvt. Ltd.’, a company manufacturing ‘agarbattis’, produces and sells the product on large scale in the city. Its product is not only sold in Maharashtra but even in other States. The company has manufactured a type of ‘agarbatti’ called ‘Premras’ and on its package covers, religious holy symbols of Hindus like ‘Om’ and ‘Swastik’ were printed hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) explained the matter to the owner of the company after which the symbols of ‘Om’ and ‘swastik’ were removed from the packaging covers. (Hindus, offer gratitude at Srikrushna’s holy feet for this success ! – Editor SP)
After use of ‘Agarbattis’, the covers are thrown away on the roads, gutters and garbage etc; therefore, knowingly or unknowingly, these are trampled by people leading to abuse of the revered religious symbols. As the activists of HJS learnt the matter, they met the owner of the company and submitted a memorandum on the topic. Many devout Hindus called up the Company from all over the State protesting against the same.HJS warned the company that it was matter of faith and religious sentiments of Hindus and HJS would stage State-wide agitations if the denigration was not immediately stopped and the company would be responsible for its consequences. Thereafter, the company promised delegation of HJS about carrying out necessary changes and now, the company has, considering the sentiments of Hindus, taken out the symbols of ‘Om’ and ‘Swastik’ from the packaging of ‘agarbattis’.
