Mumbai : Staff serving as personal attendants to High Court judges, Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister in Mantralaya, as also the Governor have uniform like dresses worn by ‘mawlas’ of Maratha regime. It is a blot on self-respect of Maratha regime which was created by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The uniform of ‘Pagadi’ and dress used by peons and ‘pattewale’ should be changed immediately is the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, State Coordinator of HJS for Maharashtra and Chhattisgad submitted memorandum to Shri. Shivendrasinghraje Bhosale, BJP-MLA and descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, for taking up the same with the Government when Shri. Ghanavat met him on 27th February 2020.

It has been stated in the memorandum that a person is first demoralized before defeating him in war. Even during the British regime, brave Marathas were treated like slaves to impress upon people at that time that they too were like slaves. We have not come out of the mental slavery of the British even after 73 years of independence; moreover, we take pride in such identity. Insult of Marathi ‘mawlas’ who defeated 5 empires cannot be tolerated; therefore, the Government should change uniform of peons and ‘pattewalas’ serving at High Court, Mantralaya, Raj Bhavan and Vidhan Bhavan etc since it amounts, in a way, to insult of Maratha regime.
