#SayNoToValentineDay trends as Hindus urge youth to stop blind imitation of Western Culture

The Western ill practice of celebrating 14 February as Valentine’s Day has caught up in a big way in India as well. The Hindu culture teaches one to love every living being perpetually, whereas ‘Mother’s Day’, ‘Father’s Day’, ‘Friendship Day’ and ‘Valentine’s Day’ propagate the practice of limiting your love for one day. This is contributing to making the younger generation narrow-minded. Hence Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had urged to stop celebrating Valentine’s Day and prevent your children from falling prey to sexual assaults.

In this context, today (14 February) morning many devout Hindus took to Twitter to support HJS appeal of banishing days like Valentine’s Day and hashtag #SayNoToValentineDay soon became one of the top national trends in India on Twitter. It was on 10th spot for around 1 hour. It was in top 20 trends for few hours in the morning.
