HJS is ready to come to the street for protecting the mother tongue – Ramesh Shinde

Ponda(Goa): To maintain Nationality, National Language has to be secured. Conversion (Dharmantar) amounts to conversion of the Nation. Conversion starts with the change in the language. The time has come to protect the culture, the language, which the revolutionaries have safe guarded at the risk of their lives and each one has to be alert to do so. It is disgusting to see that the freedom fighters, more than 80 years old, instead of leading a comfortable retired life, have to warn the Government about sacrificing their life for the sake of the language.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) is ready to come to the street for protecting the mother tongue and the Motherland, warned the spokesperson of HJS, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujrat, Mr. Ramesh Shinde, at Ponda. He was addressing a gathering in a programme organised by HJS on the occasion of Krantidin at Sri. Vitthal Rakhumai Sabhagruha at Varcha bajar, Ponda. Mr. Chandrakant Kenkre, a senior freedom fighter was on the dais. At the beginning of the programme the auspicious lamp was lit at the hands of the dignitaries.

More than 200 people were present at the occasion.

More than 200 people were present at the occasion.

Thereafter the freedom fighters, Mr. Chandrakant Kenkre, Mr. Nrusinha Panchwadkar, Mr. Pandurang Shenvi Kukallekar, Mr. Rohidas Naik, Mr. Vaman Prabhu Gaokar, Mr. Avdumbar Shinkre, and Mr. Govind Chimulkar were felicitated offering Shawl, coconut and a Memento. Mr. Shinde said further that, although we are free citizens now the difference is that the ‘whites’ have gone and the ‘blacks’ have taken their place. The traditions, language are the same; but we have no respect for them.

Vasco Da Gama had severed limbs of 127 Hindus in Kerala; but a city is still known by his name. The roads here still have Portuguese names. As there is an agitation to protect the language, another will have to be taken up for changing these Portuguese names. That is why it is very essential to be ‘Aake’ to maintain the Nationality and National Language. Freedom fighter, Mr. Chandrakant Kenkre said in his address, Konkani is the Mother tongue of Goa.

The Language experts/Educationists are of the opinion that the medium of instruction in the primary should be the mother tongue. Despite that some of the Ministers are bent upon making the medium of instruction, English as if they have so called Divine perception (Divya drushti). The Minister, treading on the National Flag, opposing initially Konkan Railway, and Mopa airport for his selfish motive, is said to have this so called ‘Divine perception’. These people are ready to take such steps regarding the language which the Portuguese too could not take in their regime. We are ready to undertake Satyagraha to protect the Mother tongue. The mission undertaken by HJS is very good. We will always support this good cause. Mr. Sangam Borkar compered. More than 200 people were present on the occasion.
