Mumbai : Government has been promoting immersion of Shri Ganesh idols in artificial water tanks. Shri Ganesh idols should, however, be immersed in flowing water as per Dharma-shaastra. Municipal Corporation also carries stale flowers etc offered to Shri Ganesh in its garbage van which hurts religious sentiments of Hindus. Representation was submitted on this issue by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other devout Hindu activists to Mayor, Dy. Mayor and other eminent personalities in Mumbai. Shri. Prabhakar Bhosale, President of ‘Shivakarya Pratishthan’, Vikhroli was also present on the occasion. Dy. Mayor Sou. Hemangi Worlikar said that it was a good point and she would forward it to her higher authorities; besides, she would try to present it during discussions held with group-chiefs.
“It is good you are creating awareness towards this issue. We will have to do certain things from viewpoint of preservation of environment. I install idol made of clay at home,” said Shri. Ganesh Khankar, BJP-municipal councilor
