‘Protect Khadakvasla Water Reservoir’ drive of HJS achieves 100 % success !

Pune (Maharashtra) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) undertook a drive on the day of ‘Dhuli-vandan’ for protection of ‘Khadakvasla Water Reservoir’ from the people celebrating ‘Holi’ by using chemical colours/ paints, to prevent contamination of water in the Reservoir as it supplies water to Pune District so also curb malpractices taking place under the guise of celebration of this festival. The drive achieved 100% success and this was the tenth year of undertaking such drive by HJS.

The drive was started with breaking of a coconut by H. B. P. Vidyanand Sangle Maharaj and performing ‘puja’ of the picture of Srikrushna. H. B. P. Sangle Maharaj said on the occasion, “Safeguarding water is like safeguarding of self. One should try to drown in the memory of God rather than drown in the chemical colours. One, who tries to undertake such mission, will always receive the grace of Lord Srikrushna.” Senior Police Inspector of Haveli Police Station visited the place of incident and motivated the activists. About 70 activists of HJS had cordoned off the area surrounding the reservoir between 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. They were holding boards enlightening people about pollution and advising them to keep away from the reservoir to prevent water -pollution.          

HJS to undertake similar drive even on ‘Ranga- Panchami’ ! 

The drive received good support from the officers of Irrigation Ministry, Police, Administration and local residents. Similar drive will be undertaken by HJS on the day of ‘Rang-Panchami’. It is, in fact, the duty of all citizens to prevent pollution in Khadakvasla and surrounding areas. HJS has made an appeal to the citizens that they should join the drive on ‘Ranga-Panchami’ taking considering the importance of protection of environment.

• The representation demanding prevention of water-pollution throughout the year rather than only on ‘Dhuli-vandan’ and ‘Rang-Panchami’ was signed by citizens with great enthusiasm.

HJS drive is most commendable ! – Senior PI Satish Patil

Senior Police Inspector (PI) Satish Patil of Haveli Police Station distributed to the HJS activists, free bottled water for drinking. He also said to one of the activists that HJS drive was most commendable and people have accepted it; therefore, it has become so successful.
